ðŸ”¹Does my child need a dyslexia assessment?

If your child struggles with reading, spelling, writing, or processing information, an assessment can help identify whether dyslexia or another learning difference is present.

Common signs include:

  • Difficulty sounding out unfamiliar words

  • Struggles with reading fluency or skipping lines

  • Frequent spelling mistakes despite good effort

  • Mixing up letters (e.g. b/d)

  • Good verbal skills but weak writing

If you're unsure, I offer a free parent consultation to help guide your decision.

🔹 How do I prepare my child for the assessment?

  • Let them know it’s not a test — just a set of activities to see how they learn best

  • Reassure them there are no wrong answers

Your child will complete short, engaging tasks to explore:

What English Subjects and Key Stages Do You Teach?

I specialise in teaching EYFS, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2. In Key Stage 1 we focus on developing the foundations of reading, writing, speaking and listening skills. Engaging in phonics to learn letter and sound relationships, enhancing their reading and writing abilities. Activities include phoneme recognition, blending, segmenting, and exploring tricky words through fun and multisensory learning. I guide children through the basics of sentence writing, grammar and writing for a range of purposes.

In Key Stage 2, my approach shifts to help children delve deeper, supporting them in analysing diverse texts. I enhance their writing skills across various genres, expanding their vocabulary and refining grammar, punctuation and spelling. The sessions will enrich their reading comprehension through critical thinking, discussions and debates.

Whether a child needs extra support or is seeking more challenging material, I adapt my teaching to meet their individual needs, ensuring they make progress and reach their full potential.

How Will I Know If My Child makes Progress?

Progress is consistently monitored and shared with you. Starting with a baseline assessment, I tailor my lessons to effectively meet your child's needs. You'll receive weekly feedback and transparent communication about your child's development.

Do You Offer Online Or Face-to-Face Tuition?

I offer both options, online have become increasingly popular, providing convenience and flexibility. However, some children will find face-to-face sessions more beneficial, and more suited to their style of learning. For those in the TN18 area, in-person tuition is available.

What Is The Process For Booking Classes and Managing Payments?

Booking your child's tuition is straightforward. Payment is organised through monthly or half termly invoices, with fees due in advance. This system ensures a secure and organised approach to managing your child's educational journey.

Can You Detail Your Terms and Conditions?

To maintain a structured and fair environment we adhere to the following terms (the full terms and conditions can be found using the link below):

Fees must be paid for in advance and within 48 hours of the date and time of the scheduled session.

Tutoring sessions will be conducted during term time only and will not take place during school holidays or bank holidays. Additional sessions during holidays may be available upon special request.
